Diving in Venice

Scuba Girl Destinations June 16th, 2008

A beautiful travel destination in itself, Venice, Italy, has recently undergone the building of protective barriers against water in the foundations of its historic buildings. What they didn’t know would happen, was the creation of an artificial reef!
‘Two of the barriers, which rise from the sea bed at high water, are protected by breakwaters which have inadvertently given Venice an instant barrier reef that boasts 150 species of fish, sea creatures and colourful algae.’ I read on Scubaherald.com.
I just found it interesting because NOW environmentalists are panicking that the fragile ecosystem may be turned into a marine park, and countless tourists may damage what has just been established. It’s like a Catch 22.
Well, I still prefer to Scuba Diving In Australia !
