As a female diver of more than 25 years (and instructor for 20+), the thing that irks me most about the industry is this sort of image. I boycott (read, won’t sell or use) brands that feature sexist marketing images. Is there, or should there be, a perfect sexy woman scuba girl? It’s not something I would ever strive to be. But when will the manufacturers realise that there are women who are as strong and capable in the water as men - that some of us want high volume BCs for technical diving, that some of us don’t want pink or pastel gear as an alternative or to compromise on features. And that not all of us are small and fragile. I’m not obese but suits designed for women don’t fit my shoulders or arms so I wear wet and drysuits for men. I don’t think marketers or manufacturers get it, but then diving is so male dominated…
